About The Position

As the Crisis Nurse, you will deliver services with respect and compassion; from prescribing and delivering nursing care to evaluating patient outcomes. You will assess patients, planning and implementing treatments, and continuously evaluate care. As the Crisis Nurse, you will ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards and actively collaborate with the multidisciplinary team. Seneca's Ventura County Crisis Services program offers a spectrum of behavioral health care crisis services to support youth and their families. These services provide safe refuge for young people who have experienced profound mental health needs including psychiatric evaluation or hospitalization. Services include crisis stabilization and short-term acute residential treatment, as well as transition and planning services to return youth to a setting in the community with stability. Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing OR Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) + 2 years of mental health experience
  • Valid California Registered Nursing License
  • CPR – BLS
  • At least 21 years of age
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with pediatrics, mental health, and/or triage assessment
  • Psychiatric Nursing experience

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate illness or injuries
  • Monitor Physician orders for medication or treatment, and prescriptions filled at outside pharmacies
  • Maintain working relationships with Pediatricians, Specialists, Psychiatrists, Therapists, and hospitals who provide care to clients
  • Ongoing training with staff on medications and handling medications
  • Document all nursing interventions, including maintaining medication assistance records
  • Review all medical incident reports for shifts
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Collaborate with Clinical Manager to ensure health and safety, infection control, resource utilization, and clinical and rehabilitative standards of care
  • Provide on-call support for nursing questions
  • Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques, this may include intervening with the clients' behavioral program through physical management
