About The Position

Reporting to Patient Care Manager of Patient Logistics with assignments directed by the Patient Care Administration Supervisor, and according to nursing care standards, provides professional nursing care services to patients admitted/transferred to assigned unit with a variety of diagnoses. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care provided to assigned patients. During high acuity or crisis situations functions as a staff RN on general floors, MICU, CCU, CV ICU, PICU, SICU, NSCU, IMSU, ED and/or designated areas of need. In doing so, demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served (age newborn through adult) by the unit. Functions as a member of the Rapid Response Team. The following are general characteristics of this job, although duties may vary by assigned shift.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit(s).
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho social needs of the patient population served.
  • Completion and graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current State license as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years critical care experience in an acute healthcare facility within the past 3 years.
  • Completion of Critical Care Classes Level I and II, or successful completion of a competency equivalent.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to comfort patients, family members and/or significant others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely with other patient care providers.
  • Ability to instruct patients, family members and/or significant others in self care/home care procedures.
  • Analytical ability necessary to assess patients' physical, psychological and social needs, develop individualized patient care plans, and evaluate patients' responses to medical and nursing interventions.
  • Flexibility and prioritization skills to work autonomously.
  • Maintains ACLS certification.
