About The Position

RIDGEVIEW, a not-for-profit community mental health center based in Oak Ridge, TN, has an immediate opening for a Weekend Mental Health Crisis Counselor on weekends. The schedule will be Saturday & Sunday, 8am-8pm, with some flexibility on start/end time. Our Mobile Crisis Team is on the job 24/7 so this position is ideal as a second job or for a stay-at-home parent wishing to maintain their skills without the commitment of a full-time job. We provide supervision toward licensure as an LCSW (social work) or LPC-MHSP (counseling). We pay for all required tests and the license itself. Additionally, we offer membership in your professional organization and provide a bonus upon completion of the Mandatory Prescreening Agent (MPA) program. Our crisis center operates 24 hours/day and 7 days/week to provide crisis assessments either in person or via telehealth from our main center location. We provide full training for you to competently conduct mental health assessments and you will have seasoned team leads available for consult throughout your tenure. Your assessments are a needed service for community members experiencing a broad range of mental health, behavioral, and/or substance abuse issues. Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, or counseling.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid TN driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills required.
  • Knowledge of DSM5 criteria and ability to determine preliminary mental health diagnosis.

Nice To Haves

  • LMSW/ Temporary LPC license or the ability to obtain one of these licenses within a 6 month time frame is preferred in order to ensure progression to the LCSW / LPC-MHSP level.
  • New graduates will be considered.
  • The candidate will obtain Mandatory Prescreening Agent (MPA) designation upon hire or when the license is obtained; training is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assessment of adults experiencing a psychiatric emergency.
  • Determines mental health crisis needs, crisis intervention, telephone consultation, linkage with community resources, and pre-screening admissions of emergency hospital commitments.
  • Follows up to ensure appropriate service is available.
  • Uses a telehealth system to provide some of these services in various locations.
  • Some travel required to provide service in Ridgeview’s 5-county catchment area using a Ridgeview-provided car.
  • Displays positive interaction and communication with community agencies and other public relations activities.
