About The Position

Join our compassionate and responsive team as a Crisis Counselor (CCP‑Grant 3), where you will play a critical role in supporting individuals and communities recovering from federally declared disasters. This position offers the opportunity to provide meaningful emotional support, education, and connection to resources that help individuals regain stability and resilience. If you are empathetic, adaptable, and passionate about serving communities in times of need, this role allows you to make a direct and lasting impact during recovery efforts. In this role, you will provide outreach, individual and group support, and community education while building relationships with local partners and connecting individuals to essential services. You will contribute to recovery efforts by helping individuals navigate emotional challenges, access resources, and rebuild after crisis events.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and current auto insurance
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand, finger, and arm movements for typing and documentation
  • Ability to sit for extended periods with occasional walking or standing
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of a sedentary work environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in disaster response, crisis intervention, or community outreach preferred
  • Understanding of disaster response systems and community support resources preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide outreach, emotional support, and crisis counseling to individuals, families, and groups impacted by disasters
  • Deliver presentations and educational sessions on disaster reactions, coping strategies, and recovery resources
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, agencies, and local organizations
  • Connect individuals to appropriate services and resources through referrals and follow‑up support
  • Represent the Crisis Counseling Program (CCP) in community outreach and engagement efforts
  • Participate in data collection, documentation, and program reporting requirements
  • Attend and complete required trainings and program activities
  • Maintain flexibility to meet community needs, including working evenings and weekends as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
