About The Position

BHSN, one of the fastest-growing organizations providing whole-person care in the region, is in search of passionate individuals to join our rapidly expanding team! As a Crisis Clinician at BHSN, you will provide crisis intervention in our Crisis Residence program, including risk assessments, brief interventions, care management, and individual/family psychotherapy to individuals experiencing or at risk of crisis. Your goal will be to help stabilize clients, return them to a pre-crisis level of functioning, and connect them with community services and supports that meet their needs. This role will support both our Children's Crisis Residence and Adult Crisis Residence. Work schedule will include evenings and weekends, as needed.

Requirements

  • NYS LMHC, LMSW, LCSW, or LCSW-R licensure or permit (required)
  • Strong engagement, clinical, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with adults with serious and persistent mental illness
  • Ability to work afternoon, evening, and weekend hours (required)
  • Potential for on-call hours
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and walk briskly for up to 10 minutes
  • Valid NYS driver’s license with an acceptable driving record to BHSN’s insurance carrier

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with databases and electronic health record systems (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive intake assessments, risk assessments, and individual/family therapy to restore safety for clients and the community
  • Assist clients in developing safety plans as clinically needed
  • Communicate with clients’ care teams as clinically relevant
  • Assess need for Mental Hygiene removal orders (MHL 9.45)
  • Transport clients to emergency rooms or other service providers as needed for stabilization
  • Assist emergency services with triage to determine appropriate level of care
  • Work a minimum of one evening shift per week
  • Connect clients to outpatient services and community supports
  • Complete intakes, treatment planning, individual, family, and group sessions, and discharges
  • Provide hospital discharge appointments to clients—engaged or not engaged in ongoing services—to increase access to care
  • Collaborate with other BHSN staff and community-based providers
  • Assist clients with accessing treatment providers or social welfare resources
  • Deliver brief cognitive behavioral therapy, psychoeducation, skills training, and care management in individual, group, and family settings
  • Provide outreach and engagement services as needed
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of, and compliance with, OMH regulations, including 14 CFR NY 589, OMH standards of care, and OMH Crisis Residence Guidance
  • Participate in staff meetings, individual and group supervisions, community meetings, and treatment teams as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
