The Crisis Clinician Lead position at Carelon Behavioral Health (formerly Beacon Health Options), a member of the Elevance Health family, involves two primary roles: Direct Call Handling and a Supportive Role. This is a virtual, full-time position with the exception of required in-person training sessions. The role operates within a 24-hour call center environment, requiring flexibility in work schedules, including rotating holidays. The Crisis Clinician Lead will handle inbound calls, texts, or chats from individuals in crisis, providing telephonic intervention, de-escalation, and assessment. In the absence of managers, they will support non-clinical call takers by staffing cases, providing clinical guidance, monitoring call volumes, and tracking staff availability. They will also perform additional tasks as assigned, such as monitoring metrics, overseeing performance, and escalating issues. The position requires completing timely and accurate documentation, coordinating with external agencies, and assisting in maintaining a resource database. Regular meetings with management for performance discussions and leading monthly de-briefing sessions are also part of the role.
