About The Position

UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor is excited to welcome a passionate and driven Crisis Clinician III to our Crisis Intervention team! Since 1993, Crisis Services has been Erie County’s 24/7 crisis hotline and community crisis response provider, offering phone, mobile, and walk-in support to individuals of all ages. As a partner of the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, we deliver comprehensive, compassionate crisis intervention. Under the supervision of the Crisis Program Coordinator, the Crisis Clinician III plays a vital role in both consumer care and clinical operations. This position provides oversight of daily departmental functions, including responding to inquiries, gathering clinical information, completing administrative tasks, and collaborating closely with senior leadership to ensure smooth shift operations. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, Counseling or Social Work WITH three years of crisis experience
  • OR Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work WITH two years mental health direct care experience.
  • Other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience
  • Prior experience with phone triage, as well as an in-depth knowledge and proven skill at doing psychiatric assessments.

  • ATTENTION: IF YOUR DEGREE IS NOT IN SOCIAL WORK, PSYCHOLOGY OR COUNSELING, TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE ATTACHED FOR CONSIDERATION.

  • Experience in mental health crisis intervention, case management, or in home therapy preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a caseload and completes face-to-face crisis assessments.
  • Provides supportive counseling to promote consumer stability.
  • Responds to crisis situations and telephone calls from consumers and support systems.
  • Supports consumers with appropriate referrals and transitions (e.g., to Residential Programs).
  • Participates in interdisciplinary meetings and high-utilizer discussion
  • Serves as lead clinician on shift, overseeing daily operations.
  • Assists with orientation and training of new crisis clinicians.
  • Facilitates staff and disciplinary meetings.
  • Collaborates with supervisors and Clin III for case consultations.
  • Completes all required documentation and paperwork.
  • Conducts and organizes real-time chart reviews and quarterly case reviews.
  • Manages billing through the Batch Handler.
  • Obtains authorizations and precertification for services.
  • Assists with administrative duties and shift crossover coordination.
