About The Position

UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor is seeking a passionate and driven Crisis Clinician I to join their Crisis Intervention team. This team provides 24/7 crisis services including phone support, mobile response, and walk-in assessments. The Crisis Clinician I, under the guidance of the Crisis Clinician Supervisor, will offer compassionate care to individuals of all ages facing self-identified crises. Responsibilities include crisis counseling, de-escalation, clinical assessment, coordination of services, and meeting with clients within the community. This is an evening shift position (2pm-12am) with some weekends and holidays required. The dress code is business casual, and on-site parking is provided at no cost. Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work WITH one year of mental health direct care experience OR Masters Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work required.
  • Other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience.
  • Work history that includes phone triage, as well as an in-depth knowledge and proven skill at doing psychiatric assessments.
  • Excellent, recovery-oriented interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and to assume on call responsibilities.
  • May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients. Transportation of medication is limited from one department to another.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in mental health crisis intervention, case management, or in home therapy preferred.
  • Act 31 or Act 126 must be obtained within 90 days of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis services in community and office settings, including assessments, counseling, and crisis planning.
  • Manage crisis situations independently using positive approaches and motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Complete consumer and family crisis assessments (face-to-face and by phone) and provide follow-up via phone or mobile visits.
  • Support consumers by promoting stability, coordinating referrals, and negotiating appropriate services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, complete required paperwork, and navigate insurance processes and authorizations.
