Responsible for leading the forensic investigation unit as well as latent print and mobile forensic analysis. This role involves acting as the lead forensic investigator, latent examiner, and mobile forensic examiner, managing the lab facility and investigative processes of the Crime Scene Unit. The Criminalist investigates crime scenes onsite by documenting and collecting evidence, preserving and packaging it according to established standards. They analyze, process, and document crime scenes using various forensic techniques, including photography, digital video, measurements, and diagrams. The position requires completing lab reports and case supplement reports through case management, and testifying in court to present evidence and analysis results. Additionally, the Criminalist coordinates crime scene related department training and oversees the maintenance of the processing lab, assigned vehicles, and equipment. This role requires responding to crime scenes and emergency situations during regular work hours, evenings, and after routine hours, and performing other duties as assigned.
