About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Health and Rehabilitative Services is recruiting for a Criminal Justice Planner position located in Anchorage, Alaska. This role involves initiating, developing, monitoring, and supervising substance use disorder treatment programs statewide within the Alaska Department of Corrections. Responsibilities include supervising staff and contractors, monitoring clinical and program performance, managing fiscal responsibilities, and assisting in the development of short- and long-range plans for statewide substance use disorder treatment programs. The position also requires identifying and analyzing program issues, developing strategies to address them, and providing ongoing training on department standards, evidence-based interventions, and behavioral health topics specific to substance use disorder and criminal justice populations. Additionally, the role involves gathering, analyzing, and reporting on program statistical data in oral and written form.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and theories of human behavior and performance in various contexts, mental processes, or the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Ability to integrate best research practices with clinical and/or subject matter expertise and patient values for optimum care and participate in learning and research activities to the extent feasible.
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods for evaluating program or organizational performance using financial and nonfinancial measures, including identification of evaluation factors (for example, workload, personnel requirements), metrics, and outcomes.

  • Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible experience in social work, criminal justice, law, sociology, psychology, political science, planning, business, public administration, or a closely related field performing law enforcement or adjudication, corrections, adult or juvenile justice, or crime prevention.
  • Applicants must possess a valid driver's license.
