About The Position

The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is looking for dedicated people to fill two Criminal Information Technician II positions in their State Office. These positions conduct background screenings for kinship placements and for other purposes where an applicant will have direct access to children. This position may be eligible to work a hybrid schedule of both in-office and telework days. A position’s eligibility for hybrid work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason. The State of Utah requires all employees to physically work inside the State of Utah Boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Enters data into a computer system and retrieves, corrects, or deletes previously entered data.
  • Checks delegated email address, processes requests and questions accordingly.
  • Works with caseworkers, kinship workers, and applicants.
  • Conducts criminal and child abuse background screenings using specified programs, such as UCJIS, SAFE, and Courtlink.
  • Receives, processes, and responds to information requests from DCFS caseworkers.
  • Tracks and organizes requests using Google sheets and Google drive.
  • Prepares for and attends background screening review committee.
  • Searches and reviews fingerprint files manually.
  • Prepares and enters applications into the Office of Background Processing DACS system.
  • Processes out of state child abuse registry checks.
  • Carries a caseload of background screening requests.
  • Other duties that relate to screening and finding kinship placements.
  • Performs required on call work on a rotation basis with the team.
  • Maintains accurate records and logs.
  • Ensures that agency and/or state records are properly classified, processed, and controlled.
  • Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, documents, and/or other written materials.
