Your energetic approach and strong negotiation skills will help protect clients' rights while ensuring they receive comprehensive legal support throughout their case.

Requirements

• Virginia State Bar member in good standing. Though compelling candidates who have or will sit for the Virginia Bar Exam will be considered.
• Will be trained on criminal defense litigation and courtroom procedures
• Excellent negotiation skills to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
• Proficiency in legal research tools like Westlaw and LexisNexis
• Exceptional writing skills for drafting clear and persuasive legal documents
• Strong legal drafting abilities combined with meticulous attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in criminal defense cases, including arraignments, hearings, negotiations, and trials
• Conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other resources to build compelling defense strategies
• Draft legal documents such as motions, pleadings, and case summaries with precision and clarity
• Investigate case facts by interviewing witnesses, reviewing evidence, and consulting with experts when necessary
• Negotiate plea agreements that serve clients' best interests while maintaining ethical standards
• Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with all procedural requirements
