About The Position

Growing criminal defense firm is seeking a motivated and confident Criminal Defense Attorney to join its Little Rock office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is passionate about protecting clients’ rights and wants to develop strong courtroom and trial experience with an established criminal defense practice. The attorney will manage a varied caseload involving misdemeanor and felony charges in Arkansas state courts. Depending on experience, the position may also include federal criminal matters, appeals, and complex felony cases.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
• Active license to practice law in Arkansas and in good standing
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Sound judgment and the ability to think strategically
• Confidence working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Ability to take ownership of cases and work independently
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• A genuine commitment to advocating for individuals facing criminal charges

Nice To Haves

• Previous criminal defense, prosecution, public defender, or courtroom experience is preferred.
• Newly licensed attorneys with strong advocacy skills, initiative, and a sincere interest in criminal defense are encouraged to apply.
• The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is comfortable in the courtroom, responsive to clients, and willing to take responsibility for moving cases forward.
• This position requires someone who can remain composed under pressure, handle sensitive matters with discretion, and advocate aggressively while maintaining professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in misdemeanor and felony criminal cases
• Manage cases from initial consultation through final resolution
• Appear in court for arraignments, hearings, motions, plea negotiations, and trials
• Conduct legal research and prepare motions, briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents
• Review police reports, body-camera footage, witness statements, and other evidence
• Identify legal and factual issues and develop effective defense strategies
• Negotiate with prosecutors while remaining prepared to take cases to trial
• Communicate regularly with clients and explain legal options clearly
• Maintain accurate case files, deadlines, and court calendars
• Work collaboratively with attorneys and support staff
