About The Position

This position is responsible for investigative support to the FWC, Division of Law Enforcement. Work involves collection, analysis and presentation of data related to criminal activity investigated by agency personnel. Initiates research projects related to sophisticated or complex criminal activity to determine structure, scope of operation, capabilities and weaknesses. Reviews field investigative reports: provides investigative leads and develops possible suspects for investigative follow up; develops biographical profiles of persons, businesses or organizations suspected of being involved in criminal activities; indexes information for case management and intelligence purposes; updates and purge information in computer to ensure that it is current and useful; maintains investigative case files in orderly and secure manner. Disseminates investigative case information and intelligence to other law enforcement agencies, when appropriate. Prepares oral briefings, written reports, charts, and analytical assessments upon request. Provides analysis/reports of officer activities, targeted enforcement efforts, targeted species protection efforts, time periods, complaints, etc., to assist in law enforcement operations and to improve customer service. Uses all available data resources to compile information pertaining to crimes activity; develop methods of correlating crime data. Research database programs to track law enforcement investigative intelligence and provide recommendations for procurement. Implement database programs when procured. Provides data analysis and reports to assist in law enforcement operations. Runs complex backgrounds on request and develops criminal dossiers on suspects. Pre-employment backgrounds on non-sworn personnel / assists with other sworn and non-sworn backgrounds conducted by Investigators, BOLOs/Intelligence Bulletins (Production and Distribution), Title Freezes/Administrative Stops, link, telephone toll analysis, charting and mapping and photo lineups. Become trained and knowledgeable with new and improved intelligence systems and databases as they become available (e.g. PenLink, CFIS). Serves as a liaison to other law enforcement agencies, programs, and databases relative to criminal investigative and intelligence matters. Other duties assigned by a supervisor.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of research and intelligence analysis techniques.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize criminal intelligence data.
  • Ability to write reports, investigative summaries and memoranda resulting from information analysis.
  • Ability to make independent decisions.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Must successfully pass a level 2 background check.
  • Fingerprints required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Must be available to travel for presentations throughout the state.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to work in a law enforcement environment and maintain strict confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminology or law enforcement or four years of professional experience as a crime intelligence analyst, criminal investigator, or a closely related field is preferred.
