About The Position

To perform crime analysis for LVMPD and other authorized agencies; to provide police personnel with crime analysis for tactical operations, strategic planning, and manpower allocation; to support programs and projects of the Department; to provide information and assistance to the public and others, regarding assigned programs and services; and to perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Requirements

• Be a citizen/naturalized citizen or permanent resident alien without conditions on status of the United States of America by the date of the first test instrument.
• Be at least 18 years old by the date of the first test instrument.
• Analytical work includes breaking down an assigned issue into parts, categorizing them, and establishing relevance and relationship among them for the purpose of making independent, discretionary judgments, and drawing conclusions from those judgments. This process distinguishes analytical work from documentary review and processing to meet office or regulatory criteria.

Nice To Haves

• One year of statistical and analytical experience is desirable.
• College level course work in statistics and research methods is desirable.
• A Bachelor's or graduate degree from an accredited college in Criminal Justice, Mathematics, Economics, Criminology, Sociology, Psychology, or Statistics.
• College-level course work in Statistics and Research Methods.
• Current or past experience as a Crime Analyst with a law enforcement agency.
• Training and/or experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Training and/or experience in using computer programs commonly used in statistical analytic work.
