About The Position

The Salvation Army is seeking a CRF Support Worker (Casual) to ensure proper supervision and support is given to each CSC client as required by The Salvation Army, The Correctional Service of Canada, and funding policies and procedures. This role involves enforcing house rules, logging clients in and out, monitoring resident whereabouts, conducting security rounds, and maintaining client documentation. The position requires establishing good working relationships with various personnel in the correctional field, assisting with client intake, and attending case conferences as needed. The CRF Support Worker must demonstrate compassion, respect, honesty, and caring in all interactions, upholding the organization's mission and code of conduct.

Requirements

  • Current First Aid/CPR or willingness to be trained.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification or willingness to be trained.
  • Successful obtainment of Enhanced Reliability Status Security Clearance.
  • Successful obtainment of clearance through The Salvation Army Child Abuse Registry.
  • Successful obtainment of clearance through the Criminal Record Check under the Criminal Records Review Act.

Nice To Haves

  • Enrolled in Criminology or related courses (first year) towards a diploma from a recognized college or university.
  • Correctional or social service background, or related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce house rules to residents.
  • Assist in the logging in and out of CSC clients; spot-check residents' whereabouts and communicate results in the logbook.
  • Perform bed checks and security rounds, documenting them in the CSC Duty Log and communicating client concerns to the CRF Manager, Caseworkers, and Parole Officers.
  • Pack and inventory client effects.
  • Assist with properly storing and recording client medications.
  • Contact the RDO when necessary and document the situation and circumstances in the CSC Duty Log.
  • Fill out UAL form and fax to VPD when necessary.
  • Distribute meal tickets to residents as per current procedure.
  • Maintain confidential (Protected "B") resident documentation, sharing information only as required for the safety of staff and other residents.
  • Properly file all CSC documents in a secure location.
  • Establish good working relationships with Parole Officers, CRF staff, police, and other personnel working within the Correctional field.
  • Intake new clients in the event of Caseworker absence.
  • Prepare blank intake document packages.
  • Attend case conferences as required.
  • Assist in conducting room searches as necessary.
  • Provide "wake up calls" for clients as necessary.
  • Assist with distributing funds when necessary.
  • Perform other relevant duties as required by the Manager, Community Resource Facility.
  • Demonstrate compassion in the administration of policies and procedures and support the efforts of all residents and co-workers.
  • Develop professionally through workshops and conferences.
