About The Position

SpreadRite is hiring Crew Members to install erosion and sediment control systems (like silt fences and inlet protection) on construction sites throughout the Birmingham area. As a Crew Member, you’ll work alongside a close-knit team to install and maintain erosion control solutions that protect construction sites and the environment. Your daily tasks will include installing and repairing silt fences, inlet protection, turbidity barriers, and other BMPs, operating hand tools, power tools, and light equipment, and driving a company vehicle and hauling a trailer safely. The company was founded in 2004 by two brothers looking for a greener way to handle stormwater runoff and protect waterways. SpreadRite is an environmental company dedicated to serving contractors, engineers, environmental groups, municipalities, and owners, while honoring the vital ecosystems that surround us. They use out-of-the-box thinking and methodologies to create solutions that work in the field, managing the entire process from analysis to design and installation. SpreadRite employs multiple project managers, civil engineers, agronomists, experienced operators, and foremen across Alabama, Georgia, and the Florida panhandle, and has provided services in 11 states. Their mission is to 'do right' and protect water for future generations.

Requirements

  • Some experience in construction, landscaping, or a similar field
  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic and a clean driving record
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Comfortable working outdoors in hot or cold conditions
  • Must be able to walk long distances and work in physically demanding positions (kneeling, bending, squatting, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience installing erosion control measures or BMPs (like silt fences and inlet protection)
  • Familiarity with light construction equipment

Responsibilities

  • Install and repair silt fences, inlet protection, turbidity barriers, and other BMPs
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment (e.g., trencher, ride-on blower, skid steer)
  • Drive a company vehicle and haul a trailer safely
  • Assist with additional tasks as needed
