About The Position

Community Partners in Action (CPA) is seeking a motivated individual with a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong work ethic to join their team as a Crew Leader for the Community Service program at Hartford Community Court. CPA, founded nearly 150 years ago, is dedicated to criminal justice reform and advocating for the dignity of individuals. Their programs focus on reentry and housing, youth initiatives, a Prison Arts Program, and alternatives to incarceration, aiming to positively transform individuals and society. CPA serves over 4,000 individuals annually throughout Connecticut and is guided by a strong commitment to Belonging, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (BEDI), striving for an inclusive and equitable workplace and addressing racial inequities in the criminal justice system.

Requirements

  • Motivated individual with a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and strong work ethic.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.
  • Two-year degree in the field of Social Services or Criminal Justice (relevant experience may be substituted).
  • Demonstrate supervisory experience.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize while maintaining a professional and courteous presence.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify problems, efficiently implement appropriate solutions, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to coach and motivate staff while providing direction.
  • Valid CT driver’s license.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the mission of CPA and Hartford Community Court by appropriately prioritizing in response to changing trends.
  • Promotes a culture of respect, empathy, mutual support, and belonging, and works to eliminate unconscious bias or discrimination.
  • Assists in the development of Community Service projects and preparation of all reports.
  • Understands and adheres to the policies and procedures of both Community Partners in Action and the Hartford Community Court.
  • Assists in hiring, training, development, supervision, and termination of staff.
  • Supervises and provides guidance, direction, and feedback to Field Supervisors and participants at worksites, ensuring adherence to CPA policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the coordination and scheduling of participants for community service projects.
  • Ensures daily capture of all data related to case management activities, tracking, and recording of Community Service performance in accordance with appropriate CSSD regulations, policies, and protocols.
  • Performs clerical duties as necessary, including filing and answering phones.
  • Provides programmatic and statistical reports as required.
  • Acts as a role model for pro-social behavior, following program guidelines for professional conduct and code of ethics, and maintaining professional image and boundaries.
  • Assists in the facilitation of regular team-building exercises with staff.
  • Recognizes staff and positively reinforces desired behavior of staff and participants.
  • Remains constantly alert for any situation that may jeopardize the safety of staff and participants and ensures safety procedures are followed.
  • Mitigates conflict as needed and uses effective Motivational Interviewing skills to discuss participant issues at project sites.
  • Assesses transportation, insurance, and equipment needs.
  • Ensures fleet vehicles are maintained regularly and in safe operating condition.
  • Coordinates transportation of participant meals and transports participants to/from work sites.
  • Assists participants as needed, teaching them skills required to properly perform project activities.
  • Participates in related workshops, trainings, and panels to enhance agency visibility.
  • Promotes the benefits of community service to community-based agencies.
  • Orders and manages office supplies and operates all standard office equipment.
  • Engages in all staff meetings.
  • Performs all other duties as required.
