About The Position

Cox Automotive is seeking a Crew Leader to join their Vehicle Operations team. This role is responsible for orienting and instructing new drivers, assisting the supervisor in directing employee work, and ensuring the proper flow of vehicles. The Crew Leader will communicate schedules and assignments, serve as a lane leader on sale days, and coordinate move requirements. They will also manage vans and transport drivers, ensuring timely pick-up and drop-off of employees and vehicles. This role requires a commitment to safety, performance monitoring, and leading the team by example, enforcing company policies and procedures. Overtime may be required as business needs dictate.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field.
• OR any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline.
• OR 5 years’ experience in a related field.
• Safe drivers needed; valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to drive automatic and standard transmission vehicles.
• Basic mechanical experience (changing flat tires, checking fluids, jump-starting vehicles, etc.).
• Able to lift at least 15 lbs.
• This is a physically demanding, fast-paced job in a chaotic environment.
• You’ll need to sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, reach, hear, and talk for extended times.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions, tolerate elevated noise levels and ongoing car exhaust fumes.
• Vision: ability to see close, distance, color variations, depth perception, and adjust focus.
• Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship.
• No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT or visa sponsorship now or in future.

Nice To Haves

• General knowledge of automotive lot layouts and auction operations.
• Knowledge of local roads, hotels, airports, and restaurants as you could potentially shuttle customers around the immediate area of our auction lot.

Responsibilities

• Orient and instruct new drivers regarding their job duties.
• Assist supervisor in assigning and directing the work of employees.
• Communicate with supervisor or manager to assure proper flow of vehicles.
• Maintain log of stock numbers for each vehicle moved and its lot location.
• Communicate schedules and assignments to the crew members.
• Serve as lane leader on sale days.
• Coordinate move requirements with lot manager and quadrant coordinator.
• Assist supervisor in making sure that lease lanes and pre-sales are properly staged and parked.
• Manage vans and transport drivers to locations.
• Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off of employees and vehicles by transporting them according to schedule to their proper work destinations.
• Shuttle employees to and from auxiliary parking lots on sale days.
• Provide transportation to employees parking inventoried vehicles at remote sites.
• Pick-up and drop-off employees and other Auction personnel to/from the Auction, parking lots, dealerships, customer locations/businesses, and other locations.
• Perform daily maintenance and routine checks of the van and clean and service the vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories.
• Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.
• Work in cooperation with Market Safety Manager in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
• Work with manager to review work volumes, plan and continuously monitor staffing levels to ensure efficiency, quality work product, and effective customer service.
• Review departmental performance against key performance indicators and metrics and develop and execute strategies for improvement.
• Effectively lead the team at the location by setting an example in behavior, championing Cox/Manheim values and ensuring that all employees are treated with respect.
• Enforce all company policies and procedures related to employee and conduct.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.
