About The Position

A Crew Leader coordinates, organizes, and directs the activities of and works with a crew consisting of diverse members. This role is responsible for workflow, record keeping, and managing tools/resources for an assigned area within greenhouse production.

Ability to work harmoniously with other employees from a variety of backgrounds.
Able to stand/walk 8+ hours.
Able to bend/squat.
Able to lift up to 20 pounds; up to 50lbs for some jobs.
Able to push/pull loaded plant carts weighing up to 200 lbs; 300 lbs. for some jobs.
Must be able to work with small equipment or willing to learn these skills.
Must adhere to safety policies and procedures (safety-conscious).
Must be able to adapt to changing working conditions.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum one-year experience in greenhouse, nursery operations, or horticulture, or related field.
Minimum six-months of crew lead or supervisory experience.
Must be able to speak English.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

Coordinate, organize, and direct the activities of a greenhouse employee crew.
Manage workflow, record keeping, and tools/resources for the assigned area.
Oversee greenhouse production tasks including planting on a moving line, spacing plants, and hanging baskets.
Perform plant maintenance such as pruning to maintain quality.
Prepare plants for shipping by picking and boxing them.
Ensure general greenhouse housekeeping and upkeep.
Serve as the first point of contact for the assigned crew.
Proactively communicate to ensure smooth operations and effective collaboration.
Provide guidance on reading and fulfilling work orders.
Assist with training and guiding new and existing crew members.
Provide feedback to management on employee performance and progress.
Coach and motivate employees to improve performance or behavior.
Collaborate with co-workers and partners in program design and delivery.
Escalate concerns regarding employee or resource issues to management.
Potentially drive electric carts and climb ladders.
