About The Position

The Crew Lead – Forklift Operator / Shipper-Loader plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient movement of materials and the accurate loading of finished boats, molds, fixtures, and related equipment. This position supports all shipping and logistics functions and serves as a backup to the Group Leader, assisting with outbound and inbound coordination, documentation, and load optimization. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, safe equipment operation, leadership capability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Requirements

  • Open to external candidates with 1–3+ years of relevant industry experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with forklifts, overhead hoists, computers
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience; marine industry experience highly preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Perform precise boat loading and unloading operations.
  • Safely and efficiently operate forklifts, hoists, and other heavy equipment.
  • Stand, walk, and operate equipment for extended periods (8–10 hours).
  • Assist the Group Leader with: Daily order/load building and trailer capacity planning.
  • Assist the Group Leader with: Communicating load schedules and Bill of Lading (BOL) details.
  • Train across multiple workstations to provide coverage for absenteeism.
  • Work to established standards; escalate non-routine tasks to the Group Leader.
  • Provide input on job breakdowns, workstation layout, run-rate changes, and new product integration.
  • Work flexible hours, including scheduled Friday shifts, to meet business needs.
  • Act independently to determine procedures and guide new or less experienced team members.
  • Mentor, instruct, and conduct on-the-job training (OJT) for new hires.
  • Serve as a backup instructor to the Group Leader when needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring compliance with PPE and safety policies.
  • Address unsafe behaviors directly with team members and escalate when necessary.
  • Promote safe work habits and report hazards immediately.
  • Model the Brunswick Integrity Playbook and demonstrate professional communication and behavior.
  • Lead a team of approximately 4–6 members.
  • Drive accountability by escalating repeat issues related to quality, safety, or time management.
  • Explain specifications when defects occur and determine training needs.
  • Utilize MES tools and basic computer systems (Shop Floor, Workday, SharePoint, schedules, prints).
