This is a safety/security sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening. The incumbent is responsible for evaluating the condition of the water distribution and sewer collection systems, streets and other areas as needed. Make decisions on repairs needed, replacements, or types of rehab to be used. Generate a flow of work needed to maintain smooth operations. Exercise independent judgment to make on-site decisions to overcome unforeseen problems that arise. Operate equipment to perform all jobs in the department. Provide advanced training of specialized and heavy equipment used in the daily operation of their duties. Assist in special projects from supervisors. Prepare paperwork and perform administrative duties, draw and copy maps/atlases as needed. Keep all equipment and tools maintained, schedule repairs on vehicles and equipment. Utilize safety procedures as needed on all jobs. Communicate with employees, residents, customers, and the general public in a professional manner. On call 24/7 including holidays for emergency response, on a rotating basis. Attend training courses required and classes for hours to keep required Licenses. Conduct field investigations of problems and determine best course of action to resolve issues. Supervise personnel and oversee equipment and materials required to complete assigned projects. Read and comprehend drawings of plans for water and sewer appurtenances and use transit to shoot grades as needed. Depending on job assignment, make mechanical repairs and electronic repairs to keep TV van operational. Evaluate sewer collection system by line segments and make decisions on repairs or replacement or types of rehabilitation. Schedule work and strive to achieve goals and keep steady work flow for other crews and assist other crews as needed. Ability to work on equipment to diagnose potential problems. Perform other duties as assigned. Secondary duties include overseeing and performing building and grounds maintenance as needed.
