About The Position

This position performs and coordinates skilled maintenance and operational activities. The Crew Leader is responsible for monitoring the progress of work at site and resolves field problems as they occur. They assist with planning by gathering materials, equipment and personnel needed to complete assignments. The Crew Leader is responsible for monitoring work progress at sites, resolves in the field problems by redirecting work efforts to meet critical and/or necessary work requirements. They support and assist all crews as needed, ensure that proper procedures are followed and service quality levels are maintained. This role also maintains vehicles and equipment assigned to the team, operates a variety of equipment consistent with Public Works activities, and performs inspections of contracted pavement work. The position contributes to the overall success of the department by performing other essential duties as assigned and contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds. This position is subject to 24-hour recall and may be required to work overtime, including during emergency situations. In the event of an emergency or required evacuation, the incumbent may be required to remain at work to provide needed services or perform essential duties for the benefit of the general public, potentially including services or duties different from those performed in the normal course and scope of the position.

Requirements

  • Applicable Federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations and/or ordinances
  • Experience and knowledge of concrete repair-forming, pouring and finishing
  • Skilled maintenance and operations techniques and practices of assigned area
  • Equipment, tools, materials, principles and practices of assigned area
  • Occupational hazards and related safety precautions and practices
  • Grades and elevations
  • Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment
  • Prioritizing work and managing time
  • Providing customer service and resolving issues and complaints
  • Performing inspections and quality checks of assigned areas and equipment
  • Monitoring the adherence to quality and service levels
  • Monitoring equipment and supplies inventory and researching requirements
  • Preparing reports, logs, and activity documentation
  • High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by college coursework and/or specialized training
  • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in assigned area of responsibility
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Commercial Driver's License
