About The Position

The Crew Chief (CC) position primarily functions as a mechanic on aircraft for a Department of Defense national, theater, operational or tactical level customer. The CC is responsible for the airworthiness of the Aircraft. Responsibilities include scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, fueling, preflight, and launch/recovery of the aircraft. The CC is responsible for keeping the aircraft logbooks up to date and noting and correcting any discrepancies. Also responsible for the accountability of tools, equipment, and parts that they use. The CC shall have a thorough understanding of all physical aspects of the aircraft and be proficient in the use of aircraft checklist. CC shall perform duties using established processes and best practices used in military and/or commercial aviation.

Requirements

  • Must possess an active DoD Secret Security Clearance, or higher (as directed by the contract).
  • Must meet all DoD Contractor deployment requirements and pass Combat Reediness Course.
  • Must have excellent verbal, written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  • The ability to professionally interface with numerous levels of management, customers, and peers.
  • The ability to work extended hours and/or shift work.
  • The ability to work in a team environment while accomplishing mission requirements.
  • Ability to perform line and site level maintenance and repairs.
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Experience installing and maintaining electrical systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical issues, and ability to read electrical diagrams, schematics and understand the theory of operation.
  • Experience with Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) precautions and electrical safety measures.
  • Experience using multi-meter, oscilloscope, and like equipment to test electrical systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with Unmanned Aircraft Systems and subsystems.
  • Knowledge and experience with Aircraft Technical Manuals (General Systems, Job Guides, Fault Isolation, etc.).
  • Manned aviation flight line or UAS flight operations experience.
  • Work Experience in aviation field in OCONUS (deployed) location.
  • Must have a High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Must be a US citizen with a valid US passport.
  • Must possess current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of relative experience and knowledge of Aviation Maintenance.
  • UAS Maintenance Experience (Group 2+) 2+ years
  • OCONUS deployment experience is a must.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance, U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Executing all maintenance actions to support on-time delivery of service.
  • Creating flight schedules and tracking aircraft specific information for reporting.
  • Interpreting technical data from blueprints and engineering specifications.
  • Conducting aircraft ground fueling and weight and balance in accordance with technical procedures.
  • Managing and executing aircraft and engine maintenance as required.
  • Ensuring the accurate documentation of aircraft maintenance records in accordance with established aviation safety procedures and processes.
  • Completing aircraft and engine maintenance as required or needed, in accordance with job guides and maintenance procedures.
  • Following established and normal aviation safety procedures and processes.
  • Conducting scheduled inspections and completing follow-up as required.
  • Inspecting engines, landing gear, instruments, brakes, valves, air conditioning, pumps, pressurized sections, and other aircraft related systems.
  • Completing necessary maintenance and repairs/replacements on the aircraft, its subsystems, and components.
  • Repairing sheet metal or composite surfaces and assemblies.
  • Checking for corrosion, distortion and cracks in the fuselage, wing, tail and other subassemblies with applicable instructions and directives.
  • Supporting aircraft launch and recovery operations.
  • Performing other related duties as directed.
  • Reviewing/inspecting work conducted by other personnel.
  • Ensuring compliance with procedures, job guides, standard operating procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Accomplishing Associated Paperwork.
  • Documenting Trends and reporting them to the Maintenance Manager/Chief of Maintenance.
  • Regular and reliable attendance on a full time basis [or in accordance with posted schedule].
