About The Position

The Pushing Progress Philly (P3) program is the City of Philadelphia’s Community Violence Intervention (CVI) program, serving Philadelphians who are at least 18 years old, at elevated risk of gun violence, and resistant to typical interventions. Program components include street outreach, case management, transitional jobs, coaching, and behavioral health curriculum. P3’s goals are to reduce disparities between neighborhoods, increase opportunities for Black men to participate in the workforce and to have increased economic security, and improve neighborhood safety, with a reduction in gun violence, fewer homicides, and safer streets. The Crew Chief role is part of EDSI’s function as the Job Coaching and Transitional Jobs role in the P3 ecosystem. This position involves providing high quality, process driven transport to transitional job sites, skill coaching and supervision at worksites, worksite matching to align with hot spot mapping and career interests, and job placement services. The Crew Chief serves as the participant’s main point of contact, supervision, and support during transitional job activities, adhering to the P3 model, mission, and approach to service delivery including trauma-informed and restorative justice principles. They utilize P3’s policies and procedures to ensure services align with scope of work, data capture, and result in intended outcomes, and closely collaborate across all P3 teams, including outreach, job coaches, and behavioral health. The role also involves building and maintaining relationships with fellow P3 providers, employers and worksite providers, and workforce and training partners, completing daily data capture and entry as well as case note entries, and actively resolving conflict using human centered, non-exclusionary de-escalation techniques. The Crew Chief provides deep knowledge around community violence reduction best practices and implements protocols that follow values of non-exclusion, strengths-based, and trauma informed care.

Requirements

  • Experience in gun violence reduction and workforce development programs required
  • Must be able to demonstrate servant leadership values and success in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and behavioral modification concepts and practices
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals and demonstrate a positive professional attitude
  • Must be comfortable with local travel, driving a company vehicle, and have a valid Driver’s License and decent driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in talent development and business services preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as participant’s main point of contact, supervision, and support during transitional job activities
  • Adhere to the P3 model, mission, and approach to service delivery including trauma-informed and restorative justice principles
  • Utilize P3’s policies and procedures to ensure services align with scope of work, data capture, and result in intended outcomes
  • Closely collaborate across all P3 teams, including outreach, job coaches, and behavioral health
  • Build and maintain relationships with fellow P3 providers, employers and worksite providers, and workforce and training partners
  • Complete daily data capture and entry as well as case note entries
  • Actively resolve conflict using human centered, non-exclusionary de-escalation techniques
  • Provide deep knowledge around community violence reduction best practices and implement protocols that follow values of non-exclusion, strengths-based, and trauma informed care
  • Run worksite crews on a daily basis, including transporting crews to worksites, supervising daily tasks, and documenting performance feedback
  • Provide mentorship in an active work environment by demonstrating P3 and EDSI core values
  • Maintain regular communication with Crew Manager so leadership is always aware of crew worksite locations and participants reporting for work hours that shift
  • Safety drive participants to and from worksites in a P3 provided vehicle
  • Ensure P3 participants complete productive work activities during their shifts
  • Establish daily goals for each shift to promote focus, skill development, and sense of pride and accomplishment
  • Responsible for workplace safety, including monitoring for risk factors, hazards, and adjusting daily tasks as appropriate
  • Document attendance on a daily basis, including clock in, breaks, and clock out times, and submit attendance logs per protocol
  • Alert Crew Manager of potential overages
  • Provide daily feedback performance reports for the Job Coaches that focus on skill development, career interests, and safety planning to ensure worksite options fit participant needs
  • Actively participate in worksite matching, placement, and scheduling with focus on safety plans and hot spot mapping
  • Partner with participants on their job search through job leads, job development, and feedback
  • Advocate for participant in their career exploration, including job search, job development, and access to opportunities in employment and training
  • Support events and specialized efforts for job coaching, career exploration, and hiring events
  • Secure worksite agreements and job placement verifications
  • Complete case notes that offer appropriate detail into services received and next steps
  • Act as a mediator between participant and employer worksites when appropriate
  • Actively participate in the strategic employer plan to secure diverse worksites and hiring employers
  • Engage employer partners, both worksite and hiring, to assess satisfaction and adjust to meet needs of both participant and employer
  • Provide feedback on participant’s worksite experiences and test of the labor market to identify professional development topics
  • Work closely with behavioral health staff on any conflict resolution interventions and critical incident response planning and actions
  • Actively collaborate in weekly case reviews with Crew Manager
  • Demonstrate de-escalation techniques to grow a trauma-informed environment that prioritizes safety
  • Complete all required trainings and professional development to grow and implement skills, including and not limited to motivational interviewing, supervision and feedback tools, trauma-informed care, de-escalation, behavioral modification, growth mindset, job development, and fair chance strategies
  • Develop key partnerships and maintain successful partnerships with external stakeholders
  • Demonstrate fluid approach to work and actively participate in continuous improvement
