About The Position

The Creeler is responsible for maintaining a constant supply of yarn to the creel. This involves checking lot numbers, hanging and splicing yarn, removing exhausted tubes, and ensuring the yarn level and cleanliness of the creel. The role also includes preparing boxes and tubes for removal, guiding assistance in loading cases, and identifying and reporting any maintenance needs.

Requirements

  • Must be able to recognize conformance or nonconformance requirements.
  • Must be able to recognize letters and numbers to identify yarn lots.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Must have adequate depth perception.
  • Must be able to read, write, and have some basic math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a constant supply of yarn to the creel.
  • Check lot numbers to ensure the correct lot is running.
  • Hang and splice in yarn in creel, including spotting, doubling, and cutting back the creel.
  • Remove exhausted tubes from the creel.
  • Place tube caps on running packages.
  • Maintain the yarn level and cleanliness of the creel throughout the shift.
  • Make preparations for boxes and tubes to be removed from the creel.
  • Guide LTO in loading cases or boxes.
  • Remove all tubes of yarn in the creel or work area that appear unusable and follow procedures for disposition.
  • Perform a walk-through of the assigned creel at the beginning of the shift or when moved to a new creel to check its overall condition.
  • Replace any missing eyelets or tie-downs.
  • Identify and report any maintenance needed at the creel and tag with a pink ribbon.
  • Load yarn into the creel.
  • Properly identify non-conforming yarn.
