About The Position

The Creeler Operator's primary objective is to ensure a continuous supply of yarn to the creel. This role involves assisting and relieving the main operator during breaks and as needed. The position requires attention to detail in managing yarn lots, maintaining the creel's cleanliness and yarn levels, and performing various tasks related to yarn package handling and machine operation.

Requirements

  • Ability to recognize letters and numbers to identify yarn lots.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • Adequate depth perception.
  • Ability to read, write, and possess basic math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Check lot numbers to ensure the correct lot is running.
  • Hang and splice yarn in the creel, including spotting, doubling, and cutting back.
  • Remove exhausted yarn tubes from the creel.
  • Place tube caps on running yarn packages.
  • Maintain the yarn level and cleanliness of the creel throughout the shift.
  • Prepare boxes and tubes for removal from the creel.
  • Guide the forklift operator (LTO) in loading cases or boxes.
  • Remove and follow disposition procedures for any unusable yarn tubes.
  • Perform a walk-through of the assigned creel at the beginning of the shift or when moved to a new creel to check its condition.
  • Identify and report any maintenance needs at the creel, tagging with a pink ribbon.
  • Load yarn into the creel.
  • Operate the tufting machine as needed, including cut pile, multiple thread-ups, and/or pair machines, following all operator job procedures.
  • Assist and/or relieve the operator in all duties as necessary.
  • Assist with backing changes.
  • Properly identify non-conforming greige goods.
  • Properly identify non-conforming yarn.
