The specific salary offered will depend on individual qualifications, experience, and market analysis. The role may be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award and offers a competitive benefits portfolio.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in finance or a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Two or more years of relevant equipment finance underwriting experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience underwriting direct origination and syndicated loans and leases for commercial vehicle, construction, and machine tool transactions.
  • Typically between 2 - 5 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite small ticket equipment finance lease and loan transactions.
  • Manage competing priorities, demonstrate attention to detail, and maintain excellent communication with all key stakeholders throughout the underwriting process.
  • Ensure adherence of the credit policy at all times.
  • Provide appropriate credit risk analysis for ongoing portfolio management related items.
  • Oversee credit and legal documentation and ongoing monitoring of asset and client performance.
  • Provide accurate financial analysis and risk assessment of new and existing customers.
  • Oversee preparation of concise, well-reasoned credit correspondence.
  • Negotiate transactions with clients and provide deal structuring expertise.
  • May manage work flow of other analysts by aligning tasks with departmental goals and objectives.
  • Develop credit information to make lending decisions on new, renewal and extension loans.
  • Assist in negotiations of terms and conditions of all decisions made via phone and e-mail interaction with clients.
  • Prepare summary, present facts and offer opinions concerning credit worthiness.
  • Apply knowledge in bank products, processes and systems and effectively trouble shooting to ensure a high-quality client experience.
  • May coordinate closing with closing department, clients and attorneys.
  • Minimize SMFL’s risk exposure by adhering to internal credit policies and procedures with respect to lending decisions.
  • Provide specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.
  • Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
