About The Position

The Credit Risk Specialist II is responsible for the ongoing monitoring, identification, and reporting of credit risk across the loan portfolio. This position confirms that risk ratings remain accurate over the life of the credit and verifies that emerging issues are identified and escalated. The Credit Risk Specialist II reports to the Chief Credit Officer and provides excellent service and support to team members and customers while demonstrating the Company’s values and supporting the mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • 3 years of experience in commercial credit with previous banking experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of commercial underwriting (CRE, C&I, construction)
  • Experience with risk rating systems and portfolio management
  • Knowledge of regulatory expectations and examiner standards
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office to include Excel
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge and expertise to department policies and procedures
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while accomplishing daily tasks
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with strong presentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the monitoring, identification, and reporting of credit risk across the loan portfolio
  • Monitor borrower performance, collateral condition, and loan structure on an ongoing basis
  • Assess reasonableness of existing risk ratings and identify delayed downgrades
  • Identify emerging risks, adverse trends and portfolio concentrations. Prepare executive summaries that include evidence-based insights and recommendations.
  • Escalate material credit concerns in a timely manner
  • Assist with development and monitoring of corrective action plans
  • Evaluate covenant compliance and monitor effectiveness
  • Monitor and maintain the credit watch list
  • Verify departmental documents and activities are compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Maintain strong internal controls and examination readiness within the credit risk function
  • Partner with Chief Credit Officer to prepare responses to recommendations resulting from audits and examinations
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency, documentation quality, and exam readiness
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks
  • Attend training as requested
  • Adhere to compliance with all federal bank regulations and laws, including those for consumer protection and the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Program
  • Participate in outside community activities as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
