About The Position

Citibank, N.A. seeks a Credit Risk Officer for its Getzville, New York location. This role involves assessing analyst work and creditworthiness as a senior team member, assigning appropriate credit ratings through credit and financial analysis. The officer will review and underwrite the structuring of annual and transaction Credit Approval Memos, and complete/review due diligence of North American Insurance companies. This requires industry knowledge to provide appropriate credit extensions within risk appetite per Wholesale Credit Risk Policy. The role includes performing outlook and industry overviews of the portfolio for leadership presentations, maintaining updated credit research on a client portfolio, and leading group-wide efficiency projects. The officer will assist the team in assessing risks and mitigants, using quantitative and qualitative factors for reviews/renewals of new and existing relationships. The role also involves leading or working with the team on complex transactions within sensitive timelines by collaborating cross-functionally within the 1st/2nd & 3rd Line of Defense. The Credit Risk Officer will supervise, review, and provide input on analysis as a senior team member, seeking credit and regulatory approval for all annual/transactions as part of a deal team. Ensuring best-in-class core credit risk analysis of the applicable portfolio, adhering to industry-leading practices, internal credit procedures/policies, and regulatory expectations is crucial. The role requires recognizing and addressing concerns regarding risk analysis execution and emerging risks, ensuring tactical execution of guidelines in all core team deliverables. Providing ongoing and timely feedback and coaching to Credit Risk Analysts, Credit Risk Senior Analysts, and Credit Risk Associates is also a key responsibility. The officer will maintain and manage a portfolio of credit exposures for Citi's most complex clients in the Large Corporate, Public Sector, and Financial Institution (Insurance/Reinsurance and Business Development Companies) sectors. This includes accountability for best-in-class core credit risk analysis, ensuring consistency with industry-leading practices, internal credit procedures/policies, and regulatory expectations. Managing the transaction deal approval process, including preparing credit approval memos in partnership with relationship and product partners, and making approval recommendations to senior risk managers is required. Monitoring the Insurance portfolio, including industry trends, impacts to key relationships, and escalating potential credit issues to Credit Risk Team Leads, ICG Risk, and BCMA partners is essential. Supporting the Credit Risk Portfolio Manager on continuous engagement with applicable Banking and Risk senior stakeholders in the region is also part of the role. The position may involve assisting with special projects such as stress testing, portfolio reviews, and internal audits. Attracting, developing, and retaining top-quality staff, including active engagement with regional on-campus recruiting efforts to ensure a robust talent pipeline, is expected. The role will support the Global Head of ICG Risk Analysis and Head of ICG Risk Analysis Transformation & Core Operations on internal projects and initiatives. A telecommuting/hybrid work schedule may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite, in accordance with Citi policies and protocols.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Economics, Management Information Systems, Finance, Accounting or related field and 3 years of experience as a Credit Risk Analyst, Credit Portfolio Senior Manager, Tax Analyst or related position.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent in disciplines listed above and 6 years of progressively responsible, post-baccalaureate experience in the fields listed above.
  • 3 years of experience must include: Leading alignment meetings by presenting industry analysis, financials, organizational structure of counterparty to business and risk partners; Analyzing trends in the industry
  • Escalating credit risk and mitigating potential loss on extended credit for clients;
  • Perform Financial Statement analysis and use accounting skills to Conduct credit research and financial stability of a company, evaluating and reporting profitability of a credit line for extended facilities;
  • Managing and maintaining portfolio and conducting credit assessment for counterparties;
  • Knowledge of risk and return models, and independent assessment for evaluating acquisition financing, and leveraging financing for counterparties;
  • Evaluating risk for the obligors and performing financial analysis to determine and recommend an extension of credit line;
  • Performing stress testing to determine the outlier in the portfolio, UAT testing to fill gaps in the process and analyzing different types of transactions, including margin and term loans and revolving credit facilities for the client;
  • Loan documentation, collateral ratings, and key trading as agreements - ISDA/CSA.
