About The Position

Bankers Trust is seeking a Credit Officer I or II to join their team. This role is responsible for the due diligence, structuring, and approval of loans within approved lending authority limits. The Credit Officer will work proactively with underwriters and relationship managers to analyze, structure, and recommend approval for credit exposures, ensuring strong asset quality. Additionally, this position will supervise and develop assigned commercial portfolio managers and/or credit analysts. Requirements

  • BA or BS degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
  • At least eight years of relevant commercial credit experience required (for Credit Officer I)
  • At least ten years of relevant commercial credit experience required (for Credit Officer II)
  • Strong credit analysis skills and techniques
  • Loan documentation knowledge
  • Commercial loan structuring
  • Ability to manage problem loans
  • Strong knowledge of Bank regulations
  • Loan evaluation skills

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes granted Individual Loan Authority in a manner consistent with asset quality objectives of the Bank. Loan authority will be commensurate with experience, expertise and business need, but will generally be utilized for smaller, less complex credits
  • Ensures that underwriting packages are complete and prepared in a timely manner
  • Assists the Relationship Managers and/or Portfolio Managers as needed to ensure each loan is properly structured based on the credit characteristics
  • Reviews credits for appropriate risk rating and approve recommended risk rating changes
  • Recognizes and mitigates Loan Policy and Loan Guideline exceptions and ensure proper reporting for tracking purposes
  • Supervises assigned Commercial Portfolio Managers and/or Credit Analysts in the preparation of independent, timely, quality credit analysis that defines and mitigates relevant credit issues including but not limited to approval sheets, annual reviews, action plans, financial spreads, projections and any other information relevant to the credit process
  • Develops and monitors training progress of Commercial Portfolio Managers and/or Credit Analysts to ensure their professional development goals are being met and that they have been provided access to tools and training necessary to be successful in their positions
  • Provides input on Senior Loan Committee agenda items
  • Assists Chief Credit Officer with designated credits and special projects
  • Performs other duties as assigned
