About The Position

This role is a full-time associate position within the Business Cards & Payments (BC&P) division. BC&P focuses on serving small businesses, bringing a builder's mindset to develop solutions for entrepreneurs. The division is seeking a motivated, fast learner with strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills. The Credit Analyst will be accountable for a portfolio of credit line decisions up to $1M exposure, analyzing business and personal financial conditions to evaluate credit worthiness. Responsibilities include assessing financial statements, preparing detailed recommendations for exposure decisions, understanding revenues, profitability, cashflow, sustainability, and overall risks. The role involves presenting decisions to senior approvers, field sales, partners, and clients. The position requires participation in a program with in-person attendance at the assigned location, adhering to Capital One's hybrid working model.

Requirements

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor’s degree or higher with an expectation that you will complete your most recent full-time degree program by May 2027 or earlier.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal communication, and writing skills
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, problem solving, conceptual skills, and team-oriented traits

Responsibilities

  • Make credit recommendations on cases up to $1M exposure
  • Assess business financial performance against policy guardrails
  • Conduct business interviews to understand client business model, sources of revenue, merchant spend, future projections, market competitiveness, and industry risks
  • Prepare clear, concise analysis supporting credit memos that recommend decisions and address rationale for any deviations from credit policy, procedures and guidelines
  • Identify and mitigate key credit risks
  • Request additional business and personal information to address key identified risks
  • Demonstrate exceptional service in all interactions with clients and partners
  • Monitor portfolio performance to identify trends and alignment to expectations
  • Adhere to all applicable regulations and the expected execution standards
