About The Position

Extraco Banks is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commercial Analyst III to support the Commercial and CRE lending portfolio. This senior-level role is responsible for complex credit underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and collaboration with Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, and Credit Management. The ideal candidate is a strong analytical professional who can balance risk management with growth objectives, serve as a subject matter expert on complex credit relationships, and contribute to maintaining high asset quality while supporting strategic portfolio growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (required)
  • 5–7+ years of progressive commercial credit analysis experience (C&I and/or CRE)
  • Strong financial statement and tax return analysis capabilities
  • Proficiency in cash flow modeling, projections, and sensitivity analysis
  • Strong analytical judgment with sound risk awareness
  • Ability to manage multiple complex assignments and meet deadlines
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to balance sales and risk perspectives
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets, loan origination systems, and Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of loan structures, documentation fundamentals, and regulatory guidance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to senior leadership
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills

Nice To Haves

  • 9+ hours of accounting coursework preferred
  • Advanced degree or formal credit training (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Lead underwriting of complex commercial and CRE credits, including financial spreading, cash flow and global analysis, collateral evaluation, and sensitivity analysis
  • Structure and recommend loan terms, covenants, and collateral packages that align with client needs and sound risk practices
  • Prepare clear, concise, decision-ready credit approval packages outlining risk ratings, key risks, mitigants, and policy exceptions
  • Monitor covenant compliance and financial reporting requirements; identify breaches or emerging concerns
  • Recommend renewals, waivers, amendments, or other corrective actions when needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely risk ratings and support early warning and watch list processes
  • Monitor macroeconomic and industry trends impacting borrower performance and portfolio segments
  • Partner with Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers on new deals, opportunity memos, and pre-screening discussions
  • Participate in client calls and site visits to better understand borrower operations and risk drivers
  • Collaborate with Credit Management to ensure timely preparation of Loan Committee materials
  • Act as a subject matter expert for underwriting guidance and system support
  • Manage the Credit Inbox and oversee assignment and tracking of incoming analysis requests
  • Support portfolio reporting, data integrity initiatives, stress testing, and special projects
  • Ensure work product aligns with internal policies and regulatory expectations
  • Mentor and coach junior analysts to promote consistency and quality in underwriting
  • Complete required training and contribute to ongoing process improvements
  • Participate in continuing education through training sessions, seminars, and industry events
