About The Position

Community State Bank is seeking a Full-Time Credit Analyst I to join our Fort Wayne, Indiana Commercial Credit team. The Credit Analyst I is primarily responsible for assessing credit risk for commercial loan applications and monitoring the Bank’s existing commercial loan portfolio, thereby ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of loan grades. Additionally, this role may be responsible for assisting with commercial construction loan monitoring and draw review.

Requirements

  • A 4-year degree in an Accounting or Finance-related field required.
  • Prior banking or finance experience helpful but not required. Training provided.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to type at least 50 wpm
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Fluency in the English language
  • Ability to create professional-level written presentations
  • Ability to travel between Bank and client locations as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior knowledge of basic and intermediate U.S. GAAP accounting practices and familiarity with financial statements is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Annual Review tracking and complete annual reviews for the commercial loan portfolio.
  • Monitor Borrowing Base tracking and process updates to line of credit availability.
  • Monitor Financial Covenant tracking for the commercial loan portfolio and perform calculations.
  • Monitor Marketable Securities tracking and process margin calls.
  • Complete the review of commercial appraisals under $1MM in lending reliance.
  • Perform financial spreads as needed.
  • Perform cash flow/collateral calculations as needed.
  • Perform floor plan checks on a periodic basis.
  • Assist other credit department team members on an as needed basis.
  • Meaningfully contribute to credit team projects on an as needed basis.
  • Become familiar with C&I, IRE, Individual, and Agribusiness lending disciplines.
  • Prepare low complexity Commercial Loan requests ensuring (i) the loan request adheres to the Bank’s Loan Policy and exceptions are properly mitigated, (ii) that key risks within the transaction are understood and properly mitigated, and (iii) the borrowing relationship is properly graded.
  • Become a subject matter expert on CSB Policy & Procedures as well as all other CSB credit processes.
  • Assist credit department team members in the preparation of new Commercial Loan requests that are being submitted to loan committees.
  • Assist Loan officers in the analysis of loan requests or for situational analysis.
  • Perform construction draw reviews for assigned commercial construction loans in accordance with Bank policy, approved budgets, and loan documentation.
  • Review borrower draw requests for completeness and consistency with the approved construction budget and prior advances.
  • Reconcile draw requests to approved budgets, inspection reports, and loan agreement requirements.
  • Review third-party inspection reports, lien waivers, and supporting documentation to assess consistency with reported construction progress.
  • Identify, document, and escalate exceptions, variances, or potential risk concerns related to construction progress, cost overruns, or use of proceeds.
  • Collaborate with loan operations and lending staff to support timely and accurate processing of approved construction draws.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation to support internal controls, audit, and regulatory review.
  • Be fully trained and knowledgeable in all compliance-related areas of CSB including, but not limited to: BSA, OFAC, etc.
