About The Position

Alabama Ag Credit is a financial institution that provides financing for agriculture, agribusiness and rural real estate purchases and improvements. The institution is headquartered in Montgomery with ten offices that service the lower 40 counties of Alabama. With over $1.5 billion in assets, the institution is a cooperative and part of the nationwide Farm Credit System. This role assists relationship managers in the analysis and servicing of the association’s mortgage and commercial loans. The Credit Analyst works directly with lending staff in the development of appropriate credit decisions and prepares other reports as requested by management. The analyst will analyze financial information including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow and tax returns to form an opinion of the strengths, weaknesses and risks associated with loan packages. The role interprets, communicates, and provides guidance to relationship managers regarding association lending policies and procedures. The Credit Analyst ensures that all assigned loans are properly risk rated, assigned loss given defaults are correct and performance status assignments are proper. The role complies with proper credit administration practices as outlined in the association’s policies and procedures. The Credit Analyst also assists senior-level credit analysts with complex loan applications as necessary. Occasional travel is required in this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, or other related field, or commensurate experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years’ credit analysis experience.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of credit administration, financial analysis, accounting standards and the use of various computer accounting and financial applications and computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of basic financial statement analysis, forecasting, cash flow and collateral analysis.
  • Detail-oriented.

  • An understanding of agriculture is preferred, but not required.
