You will be responsible for analyzing prospective customer profiles, making credit decisions and recommendations on truck, construction, and coach market financing & lease transactions. You will provide the highest level of customer service, supporting VFS Canada Inc.’s mission to be the premier captive finance company in Canada. You will report to the Manager, Retail Credit. You will work in a collaborative, on-site office-based environment at our location in Mississauga, Ontario, partnering daily with colleagues and dealer partners to resolve customer situations. Requirements

  • BA/BS in business or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous experience in small to mid-ticket commercial credit adjudication.
  • Proven record of achievement in structuring commercial transactions in an asset-based lending environment.
  • 3+ years of related finance/credit industry experience.
  • Experience in working in a professional environment where multitasking, sound business judgment, attention to detail, a fast pace and adaptable approach are valued.
  • Prior experience utilizing T-Value, financial spreading tools, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong credit evaluation and analytical skills, including familiarity with credit bureau analysis measures.
  • Intermediate level of understanding of financial statements and cash flow analysis including the calculation of key financial ratios.
  • A thorough understanding of loan & lease documentation.
  • Captive Commercial Finance industry experience.
  • General knowledge of Business, Customer Service, Credit, and Collections.
  • Strong understanding of security documentation and basic security perfection procedures.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound business judgment, possess strong organizational and negotiation skills and ability to manage multiple transactions in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Ability to work within and in support of a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support dealers, customers, and the VFS District Financial Managers (“DFM”) by providing timely credit underwriting on dealer or DFM credit submittals.
  • Keep up to date on Volvo, Mack and Prevost product offerings as well as VFS sponsored finance programs.
  • Adjudicate credit submittals and document credit decisions in writing in accordance with established VFS credit policies, scoring methodology and delegated authorities.
  • Interact extensively with the sales force, dealers, and customers to effectively negotiate transactions and communicate credit decisions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation requirements, insurance requirements, and security perfection requirements are noted on issued credit approvals prior to sign-off.
  • Participate in and promote the development of stronger business relationships with applicable manufacturers, their distributors and customers.
  • Prepare written credit reviews and recommend credit lines for current and prospective customers.
  • Assist in the ongoing development and implementation of process improvements related to the credit underwriting process to improve turnaround times and minimize risk.
  • Effectively utilize pricing tools and T-Value to facilitate and negotiate revised deal structures.
  • Participate in the various system enhancements, ensuring testing compliance and acceptance in accordance with operational requirements.
  • Perform sundry administrative duties as delegated by the Manager Retail Credit.
  • Provide backup and assistance to the Fleet Credit Analyst on transactions where exposure exceeds $1.2M.
