About The Position

The Credentials Specialist is responsible for coordinating and administering the credentialing process for medical practitioners, ensuring that all credentialing and accreditation processes and procedures are processed and completed in accordance with established regulatory, quality and policy requirements. This role provides support to the System Credentials and Medical Staff Organization.

Requirements

  • High school graduate with two or more years of experience in credentialing or a medical staff services department.
  • Familiarity with NCQA and Joint Commission Standards.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, networks, and software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheet, and Internet.
  • Ability and interest to deal tactfully with physicians.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters.
  • Must maintain primary residence within the state of Texas.
  • Must maintain all licenses and credentials required for the position throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher may be considered in lieu of experience in Credentialing or Medical Staff Services department, with a consistent work history.
  • Should agree to pursue Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist professional designation when eligibility requirements are met.
  • Willing to obtain Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Staff Manager (CPMSM) certification when eligibility requirements are met.
