About The Position

The Memorial Credentialing Specialist I supports and maintains physician credentialing, privileging, and primary source verifications for initial and reappointments to the medical staff. The specialist maintains credentialing data and information systems to facilitate department processes. The specialist ensures standards and regulatory requirement are upheld to ensure organizational compliance.

Requirements

  • High School or GED
  • 6 months of credentialing experience in a hospital setting
  • Reporting and reporting tools and experience with credentialing software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Medical terminology
  • Basic Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Data entry with minimal errors
  • Seeking solutions using appropriate methodologies
  • Use a computer for word processing, creating calendar events, and scheduling meetings
  • Prioritize effectively, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines
  • Work independently as well as within a team
  • Interact effectively with healthcare providers

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the processes for credentialing and privileging
  • Assists in coordination of provider onboarding
  • Monitors and updates medical staff licenses and credentials
  • Actively communicates with providers to ensure timely submission of applications
  • Reviews supporting documents for completeness and identifies the need for any additional information
  • Participates in primary source verification
  • Maintains compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements
  • Supports the day-to-day operations of medical staff credentialing area
  • Maintains credentialing database and other internal directories to ensure that accurate and current information is updated on all providers
  • Manages the emergency room unreferred call schedules for Physicians
  • Coordinates data and prepares agenda and minutes for Medical Staff specialty department meetings
  • Coordinates needs for Medical Staff meetings such as room set-up, catering, decor, etc.
  • Ensures the office is maintained, stocked; Orders supplies as needed
  • Maintains calendars, schedules meetings/appointments, and reserves meeting rooms as needed
  • Assists with special projects
