This role is responsible for the proper execution of the credentialing and privileging process for the Medical Staff. This includes managing requests for appointment, reappointment, expansion or reduction of privileges, temporary membership, temporary privileges, and verifying current licensure. The position ensures compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements, FDIHB credentialing policies, and FDIHB Bylaws of the Medical Staff. The Credentialing Specialist will oversee and complete background research on all applications, including verification of education, training, experience, references, state licenses, malpractice concerns (via NPDB and other sources), Continuing Medical Education (CME), and current competence through peer recommendations. They will also notify medical staff of expiring licenses, board certifications, and Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) numbers, prepare and distribute Medical Executive Committee (MEC) lists, and provide general medical staffing reports as requested. Communication with the Provider Enrollment Team, Medical Staff Recruiter, and other team members is crucial for timely provider onboarding. The role also involves assisting with the coordination of Medical Staff Meetings, handling telephone calls and visitors, maintaining an efficient filing system for credentialing documentation, preparing various documents using automated systems, and managing correspondence related to medical staff credentialing to ensure timely action.
