About The Position

At Magnolia Veterinary Hospital, we are looking for a Licensed Veterinary Technician who values steady clinical standards, clear communication, and strong collaboration with referring veterinarians. Our ER service exists to support—not replace—primary care. Every case we see is handled with the understanding that continuity and follow-up matter. This role offers the opportunity to build lasting relationships through General Practice while strengthening your skills in Emergency Medicine. You will use your full skill set from anesthesia monitoring and diagnostics to emergency triage and patient stabilization, staying hands-on and engaged throughout your shift. Requirements

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT, CVT, or RVT) in good standing
  • Strong foundation in anesthesia, medical math, and pharmacology
  • Ability to prioritize and shift focus efficiently during busy days
  • Comfort with both routine preventive care and urgent stabilization
  • Professional, calm communicator with clients and colleagues
  • Team-oriented and adaptable mindset

Responsibilities

  • Perform triage assessments using established urgency protocols
  • Obtain and document complete patient histories
  • Accurately assess and record TPR, blood pressure, pain scores, and perfusion parameters
  • Assist with rapid stabilization and emergency procedures
  • Place IV catheters and perform venipuncture efficiently
  • Calculate and administer medications and fluid therapy, including shock doses
  • Monitor continuous fluids and assess for response or overload
  • Execute, monitor, and recover sedation and anesthesia
  • Monitor ECG, SpO₂, EtCO₂, NIBP, and temperature during procedures
  • Initiate CPR and perform Basic Life Support as indicated
  • Obtain high-quality radiographs
  • Perform in-house laboratory testing (CBC, chemistry, lactate, urinalysis, cytology)
  • Prepare and submit reference laboratory samples
  • Assist with ICU-level patients and recognize early decompensation
  • Assist with blood product administration
  • Maintain detailed treatment sheets and communication logs
  • Provide thorough shift handoffs to ensure continuity of care
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients during emergencies
  • Prepare complete medical records for referring veterinarians
  • Support timely case updates to ensure seamless continuity of care
