About The Position

At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in San Valley, CA! We are seeking a credentialed Occupational Therapist (OT) or Physical Therapist (PT) to support a student with multiple disabilities who has significant physical and developmental needs. The student is nonverbal and communicates through facial expressions, prolonged visual attention to objects, and individualized behavioral cues, requiring a provider who is highly attentive and skilled in interpreting subtle communication signals. The student requires therapeutic support focused on improving functional access, participation, and independence within daily routines and learning environments. The OT/PT will collaborate with the instructional team to support mobility, positioning, adaptive strategies, and functional engagement. A structured, consistent, and patient approach is essential, as the student relies heavily on routine, predictability, and supportive interactions to remain regulated and engaged in learning activities.

Requirements

  • Active Occupational Therapy (OT) or Physical Therapy (PT) credential/license required
  • Extensive experience working with students with multiple disabilities and complex physical needs
  • Experience supporting nonverbal students with significant communication challenges
  • Knowledge of adaptive equipment, positioning, mobility, and functional skill development
  • Skilled in developing individualized strategies that support independence and participation
  • Comfortable collaborating with educational teams, caregivers, and facility staff
  • Patient, compassionate, and highly experienced in supporting students with severe disabilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized OT/PT support tailored to the student's unique physical, developmental, and communication needs
  • Promote functional independence and participation in educational and daily living activities
  • Implement adaptive strategies to support mobility, access, engagement, and functional performance
  • Collaborate with academic tutors and facility staff to ensure a coordinated approach to student support
  • Monitor progress and adjust interventions to meet evolving needs
  • Support the student's overall access to learning and participation through therapeutic strategies
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and student-centered environment
