About The Position

The Oregon Clinic is seeking a full-time Credential Medical Assistant Coordinator for its Gastroenterology West Clinic in Southwest Portland. This role involves working with a collaborative team to provide patient-focused care. The coordinator will serve as a subject matter expert, train staff, assist with department projects, coordinate daily assignments, and perform triage duties. Responsibilities include preparing patients for examinations, taking vitals, documenting medical information, maintaining a clean environment, utilizing EMR for prescriptions and results, assisting with procedures, and potentially performing scheduling duties. The goal is to ensure patients receive high-value care through efficient and consistent service.

Requirements

  • Certification through a national agency such as AAMA, NCCT, etc. is required.
  • Current CPR/BLS within 60 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, work independently, and effectively multitask.
  • Excellent attendance and work ethic.
  • Positive attitude and desire to be a team player.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with patients, physicians and other team members.
  • A commitment to patient-focused care, privacy, and safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of four (4) years of previous experience as a Medical Assistant is strongly preferred.
  • Specialty Care GI experience is a plus!
  • ACLS may be required by specialty.
  • Prior Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Epic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource regarding workflows, policies and procedures.
  • Train new and existing staff and assist in evaluating staff efficiencies and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist the supervisor or manager with department-specific projects and team building.
  • Coordinate daily rooming assignments and coverage assistance throughout the day.
  • Perform triage duties within the scope of certification.
  • Provide initial care, including preparing patients for examinations, taking vitals, and documenting relevant medical information.
  • Maintain a comfortable, orderly, safe, and clean environment.
  • Utilize EMR to process prescriptions, retrieve test results, and patient files.
  • Assist with procedures and perform specialty-related tests/monitoring.
  • May also perform scheduling duties as needed.
  • Assist with overall delivery of patient care in the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
