About The Position

Gracie Square Hospital has provided comprehensive and personalized behavioral healthcare to thousands of individuals in New York City and beyond. Through our affiliation with NewYork-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medicine, we are dedicated to improving the lives of our patients and their loved ones through innovative approaches to diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Join our interdisciplinary treatment team as the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) and serve as a treatment care coordinator for our patients. The ideal candidate will display strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work with a diverse population, and strong documentation and organizational skills. The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for counseling and providing treatment to individuals with substance use, including use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs. You will help patients with their addiction by educating them with the skills or the mechanics to remain abstinent and facilitate group sessions for the units as needed. This is a per diem weekend day shift position (Saturday & Sunday's).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) Certification
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Two (2) years of CASAC experience treating patients with history of addiction and substance abuse
