About The Position

HOKALI is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Creative Writing Educator to lead an engaging after-school program. This role involves helping students develop their writing, storytelling, and creative expression skills. The program is designed for students from Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 8th grade, focusing on fostering creativity, confidence, self-expression, and communication through various writing activities. The educator will be responsible for planning and leading lessons, adapting instruction to different age groups and learning styles, encouraging imagination, facilitating positive social interactions, managing student behavior, and maintaining records. The position requires a commitment to student safety and well-being, as well as maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment. HOKALI provides structured lesson plans but allows for educator input and adaptation.

Requirements

• 18+ years of age
• Ability and willingness to complete 3 hours of online training prior to the start date. (Concussion Training, Mandated Reporter, First Aid & CPR)
• Authorization to work in the US
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead an engaging after-school Creative Writing program for students from Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 8th grade
• Ensure student safety and well-being at all times
• Foster creativity, confidence, self-expression, and communication skills through writing activities
• Plan and lead engaging creative writing lessons, storytelling exercises, and skill-building activities
• Adapt instruction to different ages, writing levels, learning styles, and interests
• Encourage students to explore their imagination, develop their own ideas, and express themselves through writing
• Facilitate positive social interactions, collaboration, and peer feedback
• Effectively manage student behavior using positive reinforcement and an encouraging approach
• Maintain accurate attendance and incident records
• Prepare and organize writing materials and activities, keeping the classroom space clean, organized, and safe
