About The Position

Complete all aspects of creative video creation including research and development, producing, interviewing, videography, editing, and distribution for broadcast and social media. Ability to work with a diverse group including executive leadership, district staff, students, and community members. Expert video storyteller that builds and promotes the reputation of Seattle Public Schools, the District strategic plan, and furthers SPS’s brand and communication strategies. Highly skilled with the use of the Adobe Creative Suite software, high-definition video and still cameras, and all related video production equipment (lights, audio gear, etc). Live broadcast and record twice monthly school board meetings.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years' work experience in a related video communications career
  • AA degree or completion of vocational training in Communications, Broadcasting, or Marketing
  • Expert Camera operation

Responsibilities

  • Create content independently including development, research, meetings, conduct on-camera interviews.
  • Meet with internal clients and gather information to develop script and production plans.
  • Lead on-camera interviews through asking thoughtful leading questions.
  • Assemble dynamic video content using Adobe Creative Cloud – Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop and Audition.
  • Use creative tools to make dynamic interesting videos.
  • Advanced operation of cinema style cameras using tripods, monopods and handheld to capture interviews and cover video in the classroom, studio and field.
  • Upload video files to digital platforms, and create closed-captioning files in English and other translated languages.
  • Attend divisional meetings and participate in creative teams as needed.
  • Live broadcast coverage School Board meeting (camera operation, switching, mixing audio).
  • Maintain digital asset library.
  • Maintain organized notes.
