About The Position

The Texas A&M School of Engineering Medicine (EnMed), based in Houston's Medical Center, is seeking a Communications Specialist III, also referred to as a Creative Services Specialist. This role is crucial for engineering a new era of healthcare by supporting the training of future "Physicianeers" – innovative physicians with engineering expertise. The specialist will be responsible for writing, editing, designing, and assisting in the production of various informational and promotional materials, presentations, and special events for the school. This full-time staff position is located in Houston, Texas, and the salary will be commensurate with the selected hire's education and experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine arts, marketing or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four years of experience in graphic design, web development, print and electronic media, marketing or related design field

  • Mastery in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva
  • Proficient in WordPress

Responsibilities

  • Creates, edits, designs, and produces various communication materials such as brochures, invitations, advertisements, flyers, newsletters, speeches, and reports.
  • Designs graphic communications pieces within brand guidelines.
  • Develops and refines templates for digital communications including social media, emails, and websites.
  • Contributes to managing and organizing digital asset libraries.
  • Enhances the multimedia presence of the organization through creative contributions.
  • Supervises the management of social media channels, contributing creative content ideas and engaging with audiences.
  • Contributes creatively to photography, video, and graphic design for digital and social media content.
  • Implements creative strategies and trends in digital communications and analytics.
  • Works closely with teams to create print and digital support materials.
  • Contributes creatively to marketing plans through communication and promotional activities.
  • Updates website content and participates in web projects with a focus on creative execution.
  • Supports project timelines and cost tracking, assisting with coordination efforts.
  • Assists in developing and refining departmental communications plans, contributing creative input.
  • Manages project planning and execution focusing on creative implementation.
  • Manages tasks effectively within collaborative teams.
  • Contributes creatively to articles, feature stories, and news releases.
  • Publishes and updates content on organizational platforms and websites as part of a creative team effort.
  • Collaborates with team members to brainstorm, research, and develop effective communication strategies and key messages for multiple audiences.
  • Conducts research to understand audience needs, channel effectiveness, and best practices for content and design.
  • Analyzes complex information from executives, faculty, or administrators, and transforms it into clear, concise materials suitable for presentations, publications, digital channels, and web.
  • Works closely with subject matter experts to help shape, refine, and edit content for newsletters, web pages, and marketing materials.
  • Participates in ideation sessions and strategic communications planning for campaigns and initiatives
