About The Position

The Lead, Creative Project Manager will lead and oversee all stages of highly complex creative projects and programs, developing deep partnerships with both creative teams and internal business teams. The ideal candidate is skilled in developing effective and proactive communication strategies for project teams, Studio leadership, and cross-functional partners. They are solution oriented, able to nimbly adjust when projects change and adapt communications for appropriate audiences as needed. The ideal candidate must have expertly managed complex, ambiguous and large-scale creative projects in creative agency and enterprise environments. This role will mentor team members on project work and, alongside other team leaders, responsible for establishing and implementing team best practices and team culture. Candidate should model and exemplify the Starbucks Mission & Values.

Requirements

  • Ability to function effectively, independently and thrive in a highly ambiguous environment with the flexibility to change course as required to respond to new situations
  • Ability to influence others through strong interpersonal, diplomatic, and negotiation skills to achieve alignment internally and cross-functionally
  • Demonstrated creative project and account management expertise and a track record in leading complex and cross-functional projects, involving people from multiple levels and organizations
  • Expert communicator and ability to communicate concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Both creative agency experience (5 years) and general business experience in large, matrixed organizations (5 years)
  • 3+ years creative project management, including all elements of scope, time, cost, risk, quality, integrations, procurement, human resources and communications
  • 3+ years managing large-scale or multiple mid-sized creative projects
  • 2+ years building and mentoring teams
  • 2+ years in large, matrixed organization or creative agency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive a strategic approach to projects and programs based on project briefs and goals.
  • Guide business partners through the creative process from kick-off to the delivery of projects and programs.
  • Build relationships with business partners to understand business objectives, establish trust, create open communication lines, and strategically partner with creative leads to guide work through all levels of approvals.
  • Manage projects in accordance with and influences project, program and account management methodologies.
  • Drive complex, cross-functional enterprise projects and programs by leading high-performing and often globally distributed teams.
  • Effectively self-manage workload across multiple, multi-disciplinary, and complex projects and programs with varying deadlines.
  • Consistently identify connections across projects and programs as a source of input, consistency, and inspiration for brand-accretive creative solutions.
  • Achieve established goals and easily identify and adapt to changing business and Studio priorities.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with business partners inside and outside the Studio, positively representing the organization in cross-functional settings.
  • Clearly and strategically communicate to all stakeholders.
  • Engage with others in a respectful, empathetic manner, promoting a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment, and participate in building the Creative Studio's culture.
