About The Position

ColourPop is seeking a Creative Director to lead the brand's visual identity across all platforms. This role requires a blend of strategic vision and hands-on execution, translating brand positioning into a cohesive design language for packaging, e-commerce, retail, paid media, and organic social. The ideal candidate is a master of packaging and print design, a confident systems thinker across digital, and adept at translating fun, playful, and sensorial brand language into eye-catching designs. This is a fast-paced, commercially-driven environment where the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is essential. The role involves leading a team of three graphic designers and fostering a culture of craft and creativity.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of design experience with a significant focus on packaging (beauty, personal care, or consumer goods).
  • At least 3 years in a creative lead or director role managing a team.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating packaging mastery, brand design range, and creative vision from concept to execution.
  • Deep expertise in structural and graphic packaging design, including materials, finishes, dielines, and vendor relationships.
  • Proven ability to design in systems and maintain a cohesive design language across product lines, retail environments, and digital channels.
  • Strong command of digital design for e-commerce, paid media, and social media.
  • Deep familiarity with print production, including color management, pre-press, vendor communication, structural dielines, and material selection.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
  • Comfortable using project management tools and understanding the full production pipeline.
  • Proven experience leading a creative team, interpreting feedback, and providing actionable direction.
  • Ability to move fast and produce great creative in a high-launch-volume environment without sacrificing quality.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, including running creative reviews, writing briefs, and managing competing priorities.
  • A passion for the visual language of the beauty category and a desire to make ColourPop the best-looking brand in the aisle.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with marketing, product development, and operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with performance creative (static ad formats, motion design direction, creative testing frameworks for paid social and paid search).
  • Experience in the beauty, fashion, or lifestyle industry.
  • Motion design experience (concept through execution, understanding how animation elevates brand storytelling).
  • 3D design or CGI experience (product renders, campaign visuals, or immersive digital assets).

Responsibilities

  • Own the ColourPop visual language end to end across packaging, digital, print, retail, and paid media.
  • Define how the brand appears across all surfaces and develop/maintain design guidelines for consistency.
  • Lead structural and graphic design for all product packaging, from concept to production-ready files, understanding materials, finishes, dielines, and vendor relationships.
  • Partner with Marketing and Creative leadership to translate brand strategy and product positioning into clear, ownable creative direction.
  • Ensure design integrity across all channels, including DTC e-commerce, Ulta, Target, retail fixtures, paid digital, and organic social.
  • Drive creative direction for key franchise and innovation launches, collaborating on concept-to-shelf execution.
  • Develop performance creative, understanding what works in paid media (static, motion design, conversion-driving creative).
  • Lead and manage a team of three graphic designers, providing direction, guidance, and support.
  • Review and approve all design work, maintaining high standards of quality and creativity.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery through collaboration with Creative Services and Project Management.
  • Handle various tasks including creative direction, vendor calls, asset reviews, and brief rewrites, demonstrating a multi-hat mentality.
