About The Position

Fairmount Behavioral Health System is seeking a Per Diem Creative Arts Therapist to join their team. This role is located on a 27-acre wooded campus, providing a peaceful, therapeutic environment for patients and families. Fairmount is a significant regional resource for children, adolescents, and adults facing psychiatric and behavioral challenges, as well as alcohol and drug dependency needs. The facility boasts one of the leading alcohol and drug detox and rehab programs in Philadelphia, making it a preferred provider for individuals requiring specialized co-occurring psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment. The Creative Arts Therapist will assess patients’ leisure and recreational activities, lead age and developmentally appropriate therapy groups utilizing a blend of activities, creative arts modalities, and talk therapy, assist patients in developing safety/crisis plans, and establish behavioral treatment goals in alignment with Fairmount Behavioral Health System's philosophy and objectives. The role requires flexibility to be reassigned to units serving diverse populations, including children, adolescents, and adults.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling and/or related field with specialization in a creative arts/allied therapy modality (i.e. art, music, movement, recreation, occupational therapy)
  • One (1) year prior experience in Behavioral health field working with people in recovery from mental health disorders preferred
  • PA professional license preferred but not required
  • Possesses current registration, certification, or licensure in accordance with state and/or national board standards of specific field of a creative arts/allied therapy/counseling preferred (i.e. art, music, movement, recreation, occupational therapy)

Responsibilities

  • Assessing patients’ leisure and recreational activities
  • Providing age and developmentally appropriate therapy groups using a combination of activities, creative arts modalities, and talk therapy
  • Helping patients develop safety/crisis plans
  • Establishing behavioral treatment goals in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Fairmount Behavioral Health System
  • Demonstrating flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including children, adolescents, and adults
