The Creative Arts Therapist functions within the Child Life Department and Audrey Hepburn Children's House offering the arts as a therapeutic modality for pediatric patients and their family members on an inpatient or an outpatient basis. This position is a general Music Therapist to work with all patients age 0-21 in the Sanzari Children's Hospital. Monday - Friday 9am-5:30pm and every other Saturday.

Requirements

Appropriate education in creative arts therapy from an accredited creative arts therapy program.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with Child Life Program.
Provides creative arts therapy for both individuals and groups of children.
Develops and implements a creative arts therapy program.
Evaluates creative arts therapy program on a regular basis.
Provides therapeutic support for pediatric patients during identified stress points such as medical distress, end of life.
Collaborates with other staff by sharing information regarding planning of treatment and follow-up.
Procures creative arts supplies.
Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
Provides a comprehensive assessment of patient'ss psychosocial needs and develops treatment plans and treatment plan reviews based on findings and according to department policy; provides effective treatment to patients, whether assessment or therapy, and shares and interprets information to staff, families, and/or other approved agencies.
Completes written reports in a timely fashion as required.
